Morgan Wallen is capitalizing on the controversy surrounding his abrupt exit from Saturday Night Live over the weekend, by selling hats and t-shirts emblazoned with his viral quote, “Get Me to God’s Country.” Following the country star’s quick departure from the sketch comedy show – where he performed two new songs, “I’m The Problem” and “Just In Case” – Wallen posted a photo to his Instagram story featuring his private jet on the runway, with the now famous caption, “Get me to God’s country.” That post and his hasty exit during SNL’s traditional closing segment only fueled rumors of the singer allegedly hating his experience on the show. Sources close to Wallen clarified that there was no animosity towards SNL, though it was revealed that he refused to appear in a music sketch, with Joe Jonas taking his place. Cast member Kenan Thompson expressed surprise at Wallen’s exit, while questioning the meaning behind the “God’s country” reference. Wallen’s upcoming album, I’m the Problem, is set for release on May 16. (Variety)
