During Billboard’s Women In Music event on Saturday (March 29), Doechii was named the 2025 Woman of the Year at the ceremony held at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California. The Florida rapper is fresh off winning a Grammy earlier this year for Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal, while also notching her first ever Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her current single, “Anxiety.” “I cannot believe it was just two years ago I stood on this stage right here and accepted the Billboard Rising Star Award,” Doechii said during her acceptance speech, before noting the significance of the event. “Lack of inclusion and sexism are still issues in this industry. And that’s a problem. Which is why I’m grateful we have Billboard Women in Music.” Other highlights of the event included Erykah Badu receiving the Music Icon Award, Gracie Abrams being presented Songwriter of the Year Award and performing her single, “I Love You, I’m Sorry,” Megan Moroney receiving the Rulebreaker Award and performing her hit, “Am I Okay?,” Meghan Trainor accepting the Hitmaker Award from Madison Beer, aespa taking home the Group of the Year Award, Muni Long receiving the Rising Star Award, and Tyla being honored with the Impact Award.
