In high school boys basketball last night…
- Dollar Bay-Tamarack City fell at Ironwood 53-49.
- L’Anse outscored Chassell 75-65. Sam Lee led the Purple Hornets with 29 points. Brayden Larson of the Panthers scored 31 points – 17 in the fourth quarter.
- Jeffers fell to Ewen-Trout Creek 53-25.
- Baraga got past Ontonagon 61-51.
- Forest Park steamrolled West Iron County 78-40.
In girls play…
- Houghton dispatched West Iron County 64-39. Ellie Hainault and Lexi Burns each scored 16 for the Gremlins, and Eva Gerard added 10 points. Sydney Storti led the Wykons with 12 points.
- Ewen-Trout Creek thumped Jeffers 53-25.
- Ontonagon shut down Chassell 47-17.
- L’Anse cruised past Wakefield-Marenisco 82-56.

College Basketball
The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team routed Saginaw Valley State 84-46 last night. Kendall Standfest and Alyssa Wypych each scored 16 points, and Maja Kozlowska added 15.
Marcus Tomashek’s jump shot with two seconds remaining gave the Tech men’s team a 68-66 comeback victory over the Cardinals. The Huskies trailed by a dozen with 9:27 to play, but rallied to earn their 11th win of the season. Tomashek scored 29.
Both Tech teams entertain Wayne State tomorrow – the women at noon, and the men at 2:00.
The Northern Michigan women’s team couldn’t hold a late lead, and fell to Wayne State 61-60. Sarah Newcomer paced the Wildcats with 14 points.
The NMU men’s team dropped an 82-67 decision to the Warriors. Gerald Gittens, Jr. scored 17 for the Wildcats, and Dylan Kuehl added 16.
Both NMU squads host Saginaw Valley State today.
College Hockey
The Michigan Tech hockey team skates at Minnesota State tonight and tomorrow.
The NMU hockey squad visits Bemidji State tonight and tomorrow.
NHL
Cam Talbot made 41 saves, as the Red Wings outscored the Panthers 5-2 last night. Dylan Larkin had two goals and an assist. Jonatan Berggren, Patrick Kane and Marco Kasper each scored once.
The Wings visit the Lightning tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on KBear 102.3.
NBA
The Pistons fell 111-100 to the Pacers last evening. Tim Hardaway, Jr. scored 25, and Jalen Duren snared 17 rebounds.
The Pistons welcome the Suns tomorrow.
