In honor of prisoners of war and the missing in action, each year Michigan Tech students organize a 5k run fundraiser supporting the Hubbell VFW post. Ahead of the event, student organizers from the Arnold Air Society’s TSgt. Robert E. LaMotte Squadron has shared details of the 5k in 2024. Over several years of comradery, mentorship, and partnership the MTU LaMotte Squadron has worked with the Hubbell VFW Post 4624 to make improvements to the building. As well as each group shows support for the other organization during formal ceremonies, events, and dedications. Students within the squadron will graduate before beginning their military service. And have been encouraged and supported by veterans from Hubbell while attending school. The 2024 POW MIA 5 K with the MTU LaMotte Squadron and Hubbell VFW Post 4624 will take place on October 5th. Those interested in registering for the event can sign up ahead of time or show up on the day of the event and register in person. Participating in the 5k will cost 20 dollars, with all proceeds supporting the Hubbell VFW post. The run will start next to the ROTC building on campus at 9 am.
