The Keweenaw Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council brought together young people in the Copper Country for some holiday cheer earlier this month.
During a Youth Advisory Council social event, students from the area met at the Rozsa Center for Performing Arts to watch the Charles Dickens-inspired and Jim Henson classic Christmas time film, a Muppet’s Christmas Carol. Before settling into the Rozsa’s seats families enjoyed cookie decorating, a game of pin the nose on the snowman, an opportunity to write a letter to Santa, and play some single bell toss. Each year the KCF Youth Advisory Council Holiday Cheer event is sponsored by the Kellogg Youth Endowment Fund.
Throughout the year the Youth Advisory Council seeks to empower young people in the Copper Country to take on leadership roles and create positive impacts on the community. At various times of the year, the council considers grant program awards that benefit youth in the region and works on collaborative initiatives to engage the Keweenaw peninsula’s youth in events, volunteering, and programming.
