Emily Ann Roberts, the finalist on season 9 of The Voice, has clearly found her own footing in the world of country music. A case of laryngitis temporarily derailed her opening slot on Blake Shelton’s tour earlier this year, but Roberts was unphased by the setback and is now on the road supporting Jamey Johnson. She’s just taking better care of her voice this time around. “I do my warmups and I try to drink a whole lot of water because that helps big time,” explains Roberts. “And then, I am trying to keep my mouth shut! I’m trying not to talk all the time. People think singing wears out your voice, but really, talking is much harder on your vocal cords.” Roberts recently released a deluxe version of her breakthrough debut album, Can’t Hide Country, which continues to win over new fans. And even though Roberts had to initially cut her tour with Shelton short due to her illness, she will reconnect with the country superstar at the Minnesota State Fair on August 25, where the young phenom will once again open for her former Voice coach.
