A Laurium dies in a fatal accident car-pedestrian accident on Saturday. At 3;30 am on March 15th the Houghton County Sheriff’s office responded to a report of a car versus pedestrian crash on Calumet township near the Lake Linden Avenue and Hecla Street intersection. 48-year-old Holly Dollar of Laurium was struck by a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Jordan Racine Klarich of Calumet while walking on Lake Linden Avenue. Dollar was transported to UPHS Portage before being airlifted to UPHS Marquette. Dollar was declared deceased after arriving at the regional hospital. Sheriff deputies placed Racine Klarich in custody on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Criminal charges are pending further investigation. The Sheriff’s office awaits Racine’s lab results. No other information has been released to the public. Lauriu Police and Mercy EMS assisted at the scene.
