CCISD automotive technology students bring home trophies and top honors from the SkillsUSA competition in Escanaba. At the start of February, the Copper Country ISD’s Automotive tech program joined teams from across the region in Escanaba. The students competed against their peers, says program director David Narhi, and showed what they can do. The CCISD’s students excelled in various categories and secured top positions in the Automotive Overall and Maintenance and Light Repair competitions. The local program swept the podium in the Automotive Overall competition, with Seamus Kenny placing third, Jake Elenich stepping up to second place, and first-year student Marjorie Miller earning the overall competition’s top spot. In the maintenance and light repair competition, CCISD students were also placed. Samantha Narhi took home third place and was narrowly beaten by fellow CCISD student Cara Keranen for Second place. First-year student Miller says she was glad to have participated while having fun.
