The Michigan Tech Forestry Club earns a nomination as an exemplary SAF chapter.
Recently the Michigan Technological University’s College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science proudly nominated the university’s Society of Amercan Foresters ( SAF) Chapter for the 2024 Outstanding SAF Student Chapter Award. The college noted the Michigan Tech SAF student chapter has grown in size, and has led innovative programs and projects to improve the local landscape.
The SAF Chapter at Michigan Tech, known as the Forestry Club, has grown its membership to include more than 100 students. 18 of who are official members of national and state Society of American Foresters chapters. And another 25 students have become active individuals contributing to the University, and forestry communities in Michigan and the United States.
In 2023 Colorado State University’s SAF student chapter earned the national award. The honor was first awarded in 2006 to the Green River College in Washington State.
