In girls basketball last evening…
- Houghton avenged the recent Wing Ding loss to Hancock with a 48-29 victory. The Gremlins led 16-0 after the first quarter. Eva Gerard paced Houghton with 17 points and eight rebounds.
- Lake Linden-Hubbell defeated Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 57-37 in the girls Torch Lake Trophy Game.
- L’Anse downed Jeffers 62-53.
- The Ontonagon – Ironwood game was postponed. No make-up date has been announced.
- The Ewen-Trout Creek – Bessemer game was postponed, and will be made up tonight as part of a doubleheader.
- Forest Park lost to Norway 61-42.

- Hancock fell to Iron Mountain 73-23.
- West Iron County lost Bessemer 51-40.

- The Houghton boys finished second to Marquette. Eli Heathman took third place in the giant slalom, and second in the slalom. Jack Haeussler finished fourth in the slalom.
- The Houghton girls finished fourth. Rachel Sun placed eighth in the slalom, and 10th in the giant slalom.

The varsity regional hockey tournament opens tomorrow. Houghton faces Hancock at 5:00, and Calumet takes on Jeffers at 7:00. Doubleheader coverage will begin at 4:40 on KBear 102.3.
NHL
The Red Wings are off until Saturday, as the NHL continues its pause to allow players to compete in the 4 Nations Face-Off.
NBA
The Pistons return from the All Star break Friday, when they visit the Spurs. Coverage will begin at 8:05 on 99.3 The Lift.
Longtime Pistons broadcaster George Blaha is headed to the Basketball Hall of Fame. Blaha will be one of this year’s Curt Gowdy Media Award honorees. He’s called more than 4,000 Detroit games since 1976, and has also spent many seasons as the voice of Michigan State football.
MLB
The Brewers’ top pitching prospect will miss the entire season. Josh Knoth has undergone Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery.
