With more than 200 inches of snow landing in the Keweenaw Peninsula so far this winter, it’s easy to feel trapped indoors. But before the region warms up the Keweenaw Family Resource Center wants to get outdoors to relieve the feeling of Cabin Fever.
On Saturday the Keweenaw Family Resource Center will host the annual Cabin Fever Reliever event inviting kids and encouraging families to spend at least one day outdoors this winter.
Families can go snowshoeing or sledding, and participate in a scavenger hunt or a story walk. The event will also include some activities inside the Nara Nature Park Chalet for when it’s time to go indoors and warm up a little bit. Organizers encourage families to bring their equipment for snowshoeing and sledding as a limited number of items will be available at the event.
The Cabin Fever reliever with the Keweenaw Family Resource Center will begin at 10 am on Saturday at the Nara Nature Park on US 41 in Houghton.
