Two teenagers were apprehended by the Menominee County sheriff after stealing a vehicle and leading law enforcement on an interstate pursuit.
Around 9 am yesterday local law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin and Michigan were notified of a reported vehicle theft. Officers were advised the individuals were suspected of involvement in several vehicle thefts in multiple Wisconsin counties.
The suspects were seen in Marinette, Wisconsin and later located in the city of Menominee.
Officers attempted a traffic stop at a residence in Menominee township, where two male occupants fled, with a firearm, into the woods nearby. An unarmed minor was apprehended shortly after.
A second teenage male was later located using drones. The suspect was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and transported to Aurora Bay Area Medical Center.
There is no danger to the public at this time, and the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation remains ongoing.
